A Charlottesville Wunderkammer/Zelda and Lucia’s Loony Bin Tragedy
PEP along with The Zen Monkey Project and The Lunatic Carnival produced A Charlottesville Wunderkammer, an arts carnival extravaganza, and our original play Zelda and Lucia’s Loony Bin Tragedy was the carnival’s anchor performances. The carnival ran for three weeks in the Frank IX building, a building that has gone on to host every form of art and party the community can muster. This project received raves reviews and sell out crowds.
A wunderkammer or “wonder cabinet” holds every treasure one owns, without concern for whether the treasures have anything particular in com- mon. It is the owner’s love for the contents of a wunderkammer in its en- tirety that gives the collection its coherence.
Our wunderkammer was a tribute to the performing arts and artists that have grown and flourished in Charlottesville and to the community that has nourished them.

MAESTRO WUNDERKAMMER AND
THE WUNDERKAMMER PHILHARMONIC
THE MOONSHINERS STREET CHOIR
performing nightly!
We regret to inform you that the Wunderkammer Philharmonic will not be providing tonight’s musical entertainment. Due to an oversight in the use of polyester in their uniforms they were, unfortunately, in- cinerated at an earlier rehearsal. In desperation, the Maestro roamed the local countryside looking for a suitable replacement. but to no avail. The sweet spooky strains of Ratsylvania folk music lured him to the RR tracks. There he discovered a group of surly traveling gypsy delinquents. Through a series of lies and deception, he secured the serv- ices of the Moonshiners Street Choir. Tonight you’ll be the first people outside of Ratsylvania to witness their strange morbidly exuberant interpolations.
